Research Summary: My research interest lies at the intersection between influenza surveillance and molecular pathogenesis. I study wild viral genomic data and translate them into hypothesis-driven lab experiments. I investigated some molecular markers associated with the polymerase gene of a wild H9N2 isolate. I also studied the receptor binding specificity of a recently isolated H3N8 virus from an unusual mortality event of harbor seals in New England.
